Menu to Celebrate!

Americans have one more blessing to celebrate this Thanksgiving  -  inexpensive food.  According to the American Farm Bureau the cost of a turkey dinner with the typical trimmings will cost $48.91 and feed a family of ten.  This compares to $48.90 last year, signaling that inflation is well under control in the U.S.  The full menu is available at AFB’s website and includes peas and mac n’ cheese for the vegetarians.

Statistica and Yougov provide a few additional factoids for Thanksgiving 2019:

·        41% of Americans feel they have more to be thankful for this year

·        42% of American families sit down to eat in early afternoon around 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

·        Turkey is still the main dish in 86% of American households and 75% of American cooks still stuff the turkey with bread or serve a dressing on the side

·        64% of Americans have mashed potatoes on the table for Thanksgiving dinner

·        Gluten free mania grips 20% of American cooks preparing the Turkey Day feast
